Blog #3
Higher education has went through a big change in the past few decades and this change has had a big impact on students. Back in the day colleges had high standards of who they let into their institution and their number one priority was to provide the best possible education to their students and to make sure the students found the best job possible after they graduated. For example, in the article "Higher Education and Privatization" it says that "traditionally, colleges and universities were understood as experiences for an elite few" (pg1) meaning that colleges would not let students in unless they met the standards of the school. Nowadays however things have changed. Colleges now are only concerned about making a profit even if that means changing the system such as letting more and more unqualified students into the university even if they know that the student will not be ready for college level work.
